The past few weeks we have been pummeled by Arizona monsoons. As much as we love the rain, wind, lightning, and the cool weather that comes with it, it really got us thinking about how strong the build of our own personal home is. Sometimes the combination of the wind and rain pounding the walls and roof of our house makes us often wonder if it just might take a wall or two with it? This may sound a bit extreme, but our kids seem to think the house is going to fall apart so we're just going to go with it. We've all heard the story of the 3 little pigs and the big bad wolf thats looking for dinner right? We can all agree that a house made of straw would not be a good idea, but could the big bad wolf really blow down a house made of sticks? We just picked up a great listing in Gilbert that is made from block and so it really got us thinking. Is a block home or a stick build better or are they equal? In an effort to cure the curiosity in us and to also market our listing better for our client we turned to the internet to research the pros and cons to both, and this is what we found.
Stick Build (Wood Frame)
Some say it is more energy efficient
Allows for better design. There is more freedom in making curves and such at a much more affordable price
Improved moisture protection due to house wrapping advancements
Easier to work with for future improvements
More durable in things like wind/hurricanes/tornadoes
Better sound proofing
Better fire rating
Better termite protection
With a simple one story box design it could be cheaper
Looks like we have all been lying to our kids because based on all the articles and research we did, the big bad wolf could not have blown down the house made of sticks. You can make your own judgement between the two, as for us we could flip a coin and go with either. But for now we are going to side with the block constructed home and tell you about this fantastic home for sale in Southeast Gilbert.
